WELCOME TO MY HIKING BLOG!

Mori Point Loop Trail – Golden Gate National Recreation Area

The Golden Gate National Recreation Area is full of dog-friendly hiking opportunities. One of my favorites is Mori Point because of its accessibility and ocean views

Trail Distance: 2.5 miles
Elevation Gain: ~400 ft.
Terrain Rating: Moderate – mostly dirt and loose rocks but some of the descents are a bit tricky because of all the loose rock
Hike Time: 1 hour
Dog Friendly: Yes
Recommended Seasons: All

Trailhead: There are a few ways to enter along Highway 1 but Mori Point Parking Lot is a popular one.

A couple weeks ago, we headed out to Mori Point as trails finally started to open with COVID19 and Shelter in Place. Pacifica in general is an outdoor haven in the Peninsula area. If we want to go to the beach, we’ll go to Pacifica Esplanade Beach or Fort Funston Beach with the dogs. Otherwise we hike! There are a ton of hikes and Mori Point is one of the most accessible and relaxing ones.

At only 2.5 miles, it’s a quick walk that you can do with a coffee in hand. Because there are so many trails in the area, you can also meander around and extend your hike.

Mori Point

It was somewhat crowded on a weekend, but to be expected given the limitations with hikes right now. National parks and many state parks are still closed. People were respectful about social distancing and the dogs really loved getting out. We even saw some friendly dogs and let them say hi quickly.

There are beautiful views of the coast, dramatic cliffs, and some wildflowers were in bloom. Overall it was a really nice couple of hours and I would recommend this hike to any hiker or dog owner!
