Sweeney Ridge Trail

The trails opened up this weekend after shutting down for COVID19. We were super excited to go out and try out some new dog-friendly trails. The parking lot at Sweeney Ridge was pretty full so I was a bit worried, but the trail is actually wide enough to fit everyone with social distancing guidelines!

The trail we decided on was from Sweeney Ridge Parking Lot via Sneath Lane to Mori Point Trail. To get to the actual Mori Point, you need to cross a main road. We decided not to cross and turn back around instead. Although there is no “end view,” the entire hike is beautiful and well worth it.

The trail starts up on Sneath Lane Trail. It’s pretty wide and paved so it makes for really easy walking. I personally wore sneakers rather than hiking boots. At the intersection, you’ll want to make a right turn to Sweeney Ridge Trail. After you pass the Nike Missile area, the trail becomes dirt/rocky. You will also start to descend. At the next intersection, make a left to Mori Point Trail. The views are really beautiful and the trail is super straightforward.

To get back to the parking lot, just turn around and come back the way you came.
