About The Modern Female Hiker 1

About Me

Hey, I’m Melissa! I work in business & tech but spend a lot of my time outdoors. I grew up in sunny California where my fondest memories are from hiking among redwood trees. I’m lucky to spend my weekends and holidays exploring beautiful places around world.

My goal is to lower the barriers for people to get outside. I don’t believe in gatekeeping but do believe in sharing sustainable and responsible hiking practices. I have two cute dogs and prefer hikes that can accommodate them.

I’ve been to 37 countries and currently call the Bay Area home.

What is The Modern Female Hiker?

In 2013 I secretly created this blog to journal my hiking adventures and give myself a creative outlet. The more I travelled, the more I realized I couldn’t find a lot of hiking information from women and from hikers who also have corporate jobs that they love. In an effort to make the perspectives you read and the online blogging community more diverse, I launched The Modern Female Hiker.

The hikes I post about range from beginning hikes to advanced technical hikes that in some instances require backcountry experience. I enjoy relaxing 3 hour strolls as much as heart pumping 5000 ft elevation gain adventures, and my goal is to share these authentic experiences with you!

Every month, I have 7,000+ unique visitors, and 10,000+ page views.
