dog friendly hikes in the SF bay area
We recently moved back to the Bay Area and were surprised at how many of the ‘popular’ hikes are NOT dog friendly! A general rule of thumb is that if it’s not a National Park, it is dog friendly – but that doesn’t apply here. Since then, we’ve been exploring all the dog friendly trails in the Bay Area.
To help other dog owners, we’ve tracked down some of the best dog friendly hikes below.
Getting a Elkhorn Slough kayak rental is a super fun (and dog-friendly!) 2 hour activity in the Monterey Bay/Santa Cruz area.
The Mount Shasta area is huge outdoor playground 5 hours north of San Francisco. There are tons of dispersed camping and dog-friendly options for casual to advanced hikers.
