Venice Beach, CA

Hanging by the beach is one of my all time favorite activities. Surfing, sand, and ice cold lemonade are quintessential summer needs. Luckily for me, summer weather in LA stays a little later than in other parts of the country.

Cedar Ravine sent me their Desert Adventure Hammock to test out and I was super psyched to hang by the beach and watch the sun set after a fun day of beach volleyball and flag football. I’m a big fan of hammocks and I always throw one in my bag when I’m backpacking or hanging outside for the day. The hammock itself is beautiful – it features a photo from Joshua Tree National Park by Jordan Ek. We received compliments about how beautiful the hammock is as we hung around and enjoyed our Sunday!

Most of what you see in big box stores are generic cutout colors, so it was great to see a brand with an eye for design.  It can hold up to 400 lbs (2 adults comfortably!) and is a little more lightweight than other brands I have used (11 oz.). The material feels a bit thinner (probably because it is more lightweight) but I didn’t feel that it was any less sturdy because of the thinner material. Everything else was pretty standard – clips into tree straps and stuff bag into a tiny bag.

Overall, it’s a beautiful and lightweight hammock that makes more a great adventure companion. And please hang responsibly 😉
